Tool Hire Fitter - Southampton Central
Without good quality equipment we would be nothing – so fitters are critical to our excellent quality control processes. The role involves routine servicing and repairs where necessary to both our own and customer's equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications and consistently to a high standard.
Other responsibilities include ensuring that essential spares are always in stock, recording all repair data and maintaining clean, appropriately marked equipment ready for hire to our next customer.
The Requirement
Relevant mechanical or electrical qualifications would be advantageous plus experience of the range of equipment in a general tool hire fleet. However, we do recognise that you will require training to cover the full range of equipment which we have in stock. Just as important is the ability to act on your own initiative and to manage your time effectively.
Timely, efficient and informative deliveries are vital functions of a service driven, tool hire business. Much of our equipment is ordered over the phone and relies upon the drivers safely transporting the tools from our branches to our customers and back again. There is also often the need to show the customer how to use the equipment.
Therefore, this is a key customer-facing role. The driver is often the customer’s main point of contact with our business and poor service at the point of delivery could lose repeat business.
The Requirement
In addition to holding a full driving licence, preferably clean, you may have had previous multi-drop commercial driving experience together with an understanding of roping, strapping and loading techniques. Knowledge of the local area and familiarity with various construction equipment would be advantageous, however, full training will be provided.
